With a capo you can skip the harder shapes: capo on the 4th fret and play the open Em shape (0-4-3-2) or capo on the 6th fret and play the open Dm shape (2-2-1-0). Everything above the capo is fingered exactly like the open chord.

G♯m chord changes

Songs rarely hold G♯m for long. Here's what your hand does on the moves that come up most.

G♯m has the gentle, slightly melancholy sound of a minor chord. All 3 notes of G♯m fit on the ukulele's four strings, with one of them doubled. Play it once strummed and once picked to hear the difference.

A short G♯m drill

Arpeggiate 4-3-4-2 from the lowest string: B, D♯, G♯, B. Then strum it and listen for the same 4 notes together. Finish by moving between 4-3-4-2 and 8-8-7-6 to learn two positions of the same chord.

You may also see it as A♭m; nothing changes on the ukulele.
