Privacy policy

Hear the Chord doesn't need an account and doesn't sell personal data. We measure how the site is used with Google Analytics, and the tuners' microphone audio never leaves your device.

What we collect

We use Google Analytics 4 to count page views and a few anonymous events (for example, that a Play button was pressed and on which chord). Google Analytics sets cookies and receives your IP address, which it truncates; we see only aggregated reports. In the European Economic Area, the UK and Switzerland, analytics storage is off by default.

The contact form

If you use the contact form, we receive the name, email address and message you type, and use them only to reply. The form is protected by Google reCAPTCHA, which loads on every page and sends Google information about your browser and how you use the page so it can tell people from bots. Google's Privacy Policy and Terms of Service apply to that.

The microphone

The guitar, ukulele and bass tuners ask for microphone access only when you press the microphone button. The audio is analyzed inside your browser to estimate pitch and is never recorded, stored or sent anywhere. You can revoke the permission in your browser settings at any time.

Stored on your device

If you switch on the left-handed view, the site remembers that choice in your browser's local storage so diagrams stay flipped next time. Nothing else is stored.

Links, embeds and hosting

Links to lesson apps and shops take you to their sites, which have their own privacy policies. Video lessons, when embedded from YouTube, load from youtube-nocookie.com. Fonts are served by Google Fonts, which sees your IP address when it sends them. The site is hosted by a website platform that keeps standard server logs (IP address, time, page) for security and reliability.

Your choices and contact

You can block cookies in your browser or use an analytics blocker; the site works the same. For any privacy question or request, email hello@stellar.capital or write to Stellar Capital LLC, 50 Holcomb Ave, Stamford, CT 06906, USA.
